Anyone have a favorite range around here? Not Red's, I go there sometimes but it's expensive and a pain. Somewhere that doesn't charge by the hour and has at least pistol and 300 yd. Thanks for any advice!

Best of the West in Liberty Hill. Just west of town on 29. The main rifle range goes to 1000 yards, tactical bays deepest is 125 yards. Check out there website for prices.

Best of the West is the only range I shoot at anymore. I used to go into Red's in Pflug but quickly got tired of the employees and prices. I've heard that ARC is great also but I'm waiting until I get my CHL before looking into signing up out there.

I've been to Austin Rifle Club a couple of times as a guest and it's a very nice range. I'm considering joining, it's $100 per year I believe, plus a promise to do minor chores every now and then. I do know that it's in a flood plain and gets wiped out every so often. Becomes a lake for a while, so I've been told. Though since it doesn't rain around here anymore....

The best range in the Austin area was Hill Country Rifle Range. After he bugged out there are no decent ranges on the west side of the Highland Lakes.

ARC flooded this year first time in at least 4 years, kind of designed so flooding causes very little damage and the action bays just need a couple dry days to be ready to shoot again.

I go to Eagle Peak. Cheap, nice enough facility and outside. I know there are a lot of folks here who don't like the place, but I've been going there for many years... no problems when you follow the rules. I do like the fact that they keep an eye on the HSLD tactical guys there. I usually go when I am working up accuracy loads, so I have no need for FMJ or rapid fire & mag dumps.
