Went in there today and everything is in boxes and the owners said they were shutting down. Don't quite know why though.

Does anybody know of a FFL holder that I can do a transfer to near Carrollton?

Not exactly. They had about 4 hand guns left in the glass case (not sure what brands) and 4 consignment pieces on the wall (old mauser, tricked out Saiga 12, crappy looking SKS, and a old pump 12 gauge). They did have a few XDM 9mm mags left I believe.

Was that the shop that opened a couple of years ago which caused problems for Carrollton?

Yeah it didn't exactly cause problems its just the HOA from the neighborhood next to the store started bitching about having a gun store near there homes

I live around that area and let me tell you, there's at lease one robbery every two days in the shopping center Big Slims was located in so the asshats in the HOA were complaining about the wrong problem. Hell the old supermarket (Albertsons I think?) closed down two years ago and every week you've got someone breaking in and stealing copper or other crap you'd find in a closed down grocery store.

Never understood the reasoning on that one.

Damn, I bought a few guns from them just to give them business.
That sucks that they are going away.

So many other shady gun dealers out there and this guy always did the right thing.
He would price match any gun you wanted.

talked to one of the shop guys...not enough business; lack of foot traffic, they were in a difficult spot. price matching also did not help and it was hard for them to compete with the big box stores.

Yeah everything south of hebron parkway near the Carrollton/Dallas border is basically a criminal hive. You've got the combination of an aging apartment complex right next to govt. subsidized housing.

Corey and Jack did right by me. I went in there a week ago to price a Daniel Defense M4 and they took $50 off the Buds price. I went in there today and they had all the stuff in boxes...needless to say my wallet was pissed

Pretty much sums up why they had a lack of foot traffic. Who want's to go through the crime hive?

Agreed. As a matter of face, there was an attempted robbery at Big Slims on November '10. Some colored kids broke through the glass door and Jack scared 'em off with a WASR-10

And I didn't think there were people that stupid to steal from a GUN STORE...proved me wrong!
