This is the place outside Waco right. Are they 50bmg friendly? I have an AR50 that has only been to 600 and would love to be able to streach it out to 1000. Is it $25 per gun or per person?

They always have allowed 50's out there when I was there. You need to have a SOLID zero before you arrive.

There is a club 3gun match on Sunday... which is also superbowl sunday..... (not that I care) I might make it out there on Sunday.... otherwise I will shoot for saturday. I haven't seen Tiger Valley in FOREVER.

I put it in match announcments and on the local calendar:

In for Sunday!

If anybody wants to get together for whataburger at 0darkhundred in N. Dallas area let me know. I doubt anyone is big on carpooling, but if anybody wants to ride with, they are welcome for the price of gas one way.

How does one register or preregister for this event. This would be our first time to visit so I was wondering how I could ensure a slot as we will be driving in from Abilene. I looked on the TV website and did not see anything on the calendar for those days.. Any help is appreciated.

You just show up and pay the same day.
It's a good idea to post here which day you like to go so TJ gets some ideas how many shooters.

It's not really gonna fill up. It might get a bit crowded but there is always room for one more....or three more.

Anyone staying overnight? Are there hotels close by?
mm38  [Team Member]

Closest are either in Mexia or in Bellmead. The cheaper hotels in either place are not very pleasant.

No tents only pop ups or trailers? Is there hook up and a fee? Sorry for all the FNG questions. But this may be a family trip so I want to be prepared.

TJ does charge a fee for camping and there are a limited number of hookups for RVs, best to contact him to reserve a spot. RVs, tents, pop-ups, pop-overs, turn-overs, TRG, pretty much anything allowed.

Ammo...yes, you will need it. The amount is based on a simple formula that factors in your weight and the gross weight of your vehicle, age, caliber, fuck it....TxLewis will along shortly to explain it to you.

Guys,

Sorry, but for the open shoot there is no camping on-site. Your best bet if you want to stay in the area is in Bellmead, which is 15 minutes from the range.

Check the TIGER Valley Facebook page for updates.

If I'm using your formula then i'm fucked. Can't pull the handle fast enought to make that much.

It really only takes 2 rounds at each shooting position. First shot is your "guess", second shot is your correction. Quit after #2. So, 8 positions (they don't usually shoot @700 yrds), x2, =16. Looks like 20 rounds will be more than enough. True but kidding. At the shorter ranges it is a waste of ammo to keep pounding the spotter. @ 500+ take your time and learn. Don't just throw bullets downrange to see what happens. Great learning experience for $25.

There have been many a time I have sent over 300 rounds downrange in my bolt gun at Tiger Valley. It all depends on how many targets of opportunity you have, and what your goals are.

If we split up into teams and run the targets up and down, it will be nice and slow.

If we shoot at steel plates and clays on the impact berm, you can burn up a lot of ammo lickety split.

I prefer splitting into teams and alternating with the long range marker targets. Thats the best way to get your dope locked in.

will we have a choice or is this going to be fairly structured. I have not shot past 500 before and look forward to the opportunity to stretch out a bit.

If there are enough shooters, then splitting into teams, and alternate shooting.
If there are few shooters, then probably shooting metal targets at various distances up to 1k and some clays beyond 1K (some 60 to 70 yds behind 1k).
Tiger Valley facility has more than just long range though. In the past, when long range was done, I like to head over to other berms for some rifle and pistol works, either with paper targets or falling plates. I don't know if TJ still allows it or not any more.

Going to make it Sir? I have a shift get together to make that night, so I am going to get there and knock out as much distance shooting as I can load before hand and then have to hit the road. I was hoping it would be okay to swap scopes and ammo depending on distance. 100-500 wasn't a huge deal at the last 3 gun, so I was hoping to get a run through that with my 3 gun scope and ammo and then try my hand at reach out further with some of the ammo I have been working on and my 5x20.

Kinda feeling rushed currently, haha, so maybe I should just KISS instead and stick with the precision ammo and scope.

No, he's too short to trim the hollys and the boxwoods....and if he tries using a ladder, it's all crooked.

I bet you are still on that same box of Black hills from 3 years ago? The last time I saw your "Guess" shot was a single, cold bore shot from the top of the tower at night with a 8mph cross wind. First round 600yd hit. Pack it up and go on with the evening. So you saved 9 shots there!

I think I am still going to end up going Sat. There should be a match Sunday and Tiger valley plus a match should be a good start to prepping for the TX MLG Championship in April.

There is work going on in the bays for the weekend, so the short gun ranges will be unavailable. Sorry guys.
