So I finally took the plunge and got a press kit. Anyone in the Memphis area know who might have primers in stock?

Yeah, I know I am a bit late to the party.

The only place I've seen primers around Memphis is at the gun shows

Guns and Ammo had a lot of primers the other day. They may all be gone. There is another show coming up Jan 9-10. What kind of primers are you looking for?

I am looking to reload 223 for my ARs (only die I have now), so i'm looking for small rifle primers. CCI would be great. A guy at the show was selling Wolf primers but like an idiot I didn't walk over there because I wasn't sure if I would buy a press.

The Bass Pro store is starting to carry a small line of reloading gear. I think I remember seeing some primers when I was last there 2-3 weeks ago.

Give 'em a call.

ETA... and you've got gun shows the next couple of weekend, too.

Weidners has primers in stock.
Even with the hazmat fee they are probably cheaper than you will find locally.

Don't forget to add sales tax (they're in Johnson City, TN). Still, will probably be cheaper than locally.

Picked up a few boxes of CCI primers at G&A $4.50ish per 100 (only had 300 of what I wanted) and some Winchester (got 1000) for the same. Once I figure out what I am doing I will place an order online. I'm going to see what I can get in Southaven Saturday.

Memphis folks are so helpful.

The Avery Company Store off of Broad has a large selection if not the largest selection in Memphis.

Never heard of them, are they a parts store only? Sell guns and gear at all?

Memphis's best kept secret. I don't think they sell gun but have a lot of ammo and reloading supplies. Avery makes duck hunting equipment and clothes and this is the outlet store. they also have a lot of archery stuff.

To get there go north on Tillman to Broad, turn west on Broad, as soon as you go over the railroad tracts turn left (south) on a street into a a long strip of warehouses. Avery's is in a warehouse in about the middle of the warehouse strip.

They might not have what you are looking for but it's worth the trip.

Can't visualize it offhand- is that the same strip with the Outdoors, Inc outlet?

No Hank, Outdoors Inc is on Summer. Avery is in an industrial/warehouse park, on Cumberland Street. They have a decent reloading supply, thanks to Tim, an avid benchrest shooter.

Their website says Wholesale Only. What does it take to buy from them?

Thanks

From what I see, they are a wholesaler, BUT they now have a retail outlet on site.
