I shot one across my man cave today changing out grips and spent three hours looking for it. Could I trouble anyone for a spare? Thanks in advance.

I have some. If you can make it to the Troy area, I'll give it to you. Otherwise if you can wait a day or two, IM me your address and I'll send it to you.

My brother has tapped the hole and installed a hexhead screw to prevent that from happening. He got the idea from one of the gun Mag's a month or two ago.

I just hope I don't change grips or stocks around enough to warrant that!

Are you sure he didn't do that on the takedown pin detent hole? That's the more common place to do that mod.

Just order a few from MidwayUSA. Shipping won't be much and you'll have spare.

I've seen it done on the rear takedown spring hole, bolt catch and trigger guard. The safety spring hole is a new location for me but I don't see why not to do it.

I have launched one or two of these springs. I now dip about the last 2 or 4 spring coils in grease, then put that end into the grip. Hope this helps.

Yes. I have installed the A-PEGs. These grips are very nice. I like the way they feel in the hand. I have course ones and one smooth one. The course ones are very course, but not cut your hand course. The smooth one is still course, just not as deep as the rough one.

For those of you considering this product, it's a great grip at a great price.

If anyone wants to see one, let me know and I'll try to make it out to Arnold in the next couple of weeks.

I kinda doubt it was for the safety detent....most of the spring would have to be cut off not leaving much cushion for it.

And I found out about the take down pin screw mod right here on arfcom a couple years before I was a member

Yes it was the takedown detent that was tapped and plugged. I was reading through things quickly and posting on a tablet in my dad's hospital room, so I got a bit distracted.

Sorry for the mixup.

Sorry,

I forgot to mention that I got the parts. Thank you very much.

I thought about tapping that detent as well, but my current grip of choice is very snug, so I should be able to grab the safety spring with a flat head screwdriver before I remove the grip altogether. That being said, I plan on ordering a few extras from Brownell's. When I make mistakes, I like it to not be ones that others have made, plenty of new ones to discover on my own. lol

There is not enough room for the spring and detent and a set screw to be tapped in.
The Majority of the spring is IN the grip...

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks!

I wish we could have video taped our selves each time we've done that. I bet it would be pretty damned funny to watch our expressions and the expletives coming out. I did one two weeks ago. Luckily it landed in my kid's macaroni and cheese.
