Hey guys. I am thinking about getting the barrel on my Scar 26 cut down to 14.5" and permanently attaching a flash hider or break. Can you guys that have done this to your Scar recommend a flash hider or break that will bring the 14.5" barrel up to 16". Thanks in advance for the advice/help.

Well there is no single brake or FH I would recommend. I personally use MB556K-PN and SF 212a flash hiders on my 14.5" guns because I own a -212 can. If you aren't planning on ever running a can, the Battle Comp 1.5 will give you the extra length that you need. Additionally so will almost any of the Surefire, YHM, or AAC flash hiders/brakes should you ever decide you want a can down the road.

I'd pin on something simple and sturdy. Pin/weld is a pain in the ass so make sure whatever you put on there won't get too beat up by heavy/long term use.

I like the above posters idea of a surefire muzzle device, as they are very robust and effective.

Thanks for the replies guys. Does anyone know if the PWS brake that comes with the Scar 16 is long enough to do the job? Crusader are you in the PHX area? If yes can you recommend anyone local for the barrel work?

I know a guy named Marian in the phx area that does pretty good work but I for know about blind pinning. I just follow the general opinion to use ADCO or Marvin Pitts of Nefarious Arms as they do pretty awesome work.

Edit: the PWS is long enough for a 14.5" pin/weld

Marvin recently cut both my friends and my barrel to 14.5 and pinned a Surefire muzzle break on them. Couldn't be happier. Quality of work was superior and performance of muzzle break was incredible.

We also had Marvin Cerakote the barrels Armor Black. Check out the properties of Cerakote and you may want him to do yours too.

He is known on the forums as "SR-47". This is the message he sent me. Should be recent pricing:

12-14" +50.00
14-16" +75.00
18-20" +100.00

Example: a barrel that is 14.5" long would be +75.00 for a total of 225.00

I will sandblast the barrel for free

parkerize is: 25.00

parkerize + CeraKote: 85.00

cut-down re-thread and re-crown AR-15 barrels: 75.00

cut-down re-thread and re-crown ACR barrels: 75.00

I also can provide other custom work so please ask

Please include instructions on what work you desire to be done

I ship via USPS Priority Mail: if you want insurance or to use a other carrier please include instructions and payment with your work order

I would prefer that you ship via US mail FedX and UPS are not a good choice seeing how I live in a rural area.
for me to pick up a packages at their local hub is a 45 min drive.
if you insist on using a private carrier I will have to give you an alternate address

average turnaround is 3 weeks

I accept personal checks and money orders

Thanks

Do you own a suppressor? If not, I would consider which I would want to buy before worrying about which attachment to permanently install.
