A new take off I would say around $75 shipped would be fair.A colt with its markings on carry handles is gonna be like every other mil-spec height handle theres really no way to really tell if its a Colt handle just the upper is unique in that.

What is 'what you think'? The statement is contradictory - he says 'A Colt with it's markings on carry handles', then 'there's no way to tell if it's a Colt'. Fortunately, I happen to know that Colt handles are not marked, so half of it is true. Buying a 'Colt' carry handle is pretty much a crap shoot because they are not marked and look just like all the others. I think $50 is more like it for a pre-owned carry handle.

No more then any other forged CH. There is nothing special or unique about a Colt CH and the only way to even know it's a "genuine" Colt CH is to remove it directly from a Colt (that you have directly removed from a sealed factory box).

On the EE, forged CH's go for between $50-$75.

Except that the M16A3 is an FN, not a Colt... And the A3 has the same upper as an A2...

Dang marketing people anticipating what the next variation would be making this confusing for the rest of time.

Best just to call it a detachable carry handle from Colt and not associate it with a particular weapon. Is the range wheel 6/3 or 8/3?

I thought the A3 was a flat top with detachable carry handle. Is it not?

That's the commercial designation for the flat top upper.

I've seen Colt carry handles as cheap as $45 but typically $55-75 shipped. As for them having no markings, I've seen them with markings.

Markings? Those marks only tell who forged the blank. Not who machined it. I would think that Colt would subcontract this item.

Just which forge mark is supposed to be Colt?

L is: LMT
AF is: Alcoa Forge
C AF is: Colt Alco Forge
A (splintered) = Anchor Harvey Aluminum
C MB is: Colt / Mueller Brass
Cardinal’s head (stylized bird head) is: Cardinal Forge
CH is: Colt Harvey Aluminum
Crosshairs w/"AR" is: ArmaLite
CK is: Colt / Kaiser Aluminum
CM is: Colt / Martin Marietta
D (stylized) is: Diemaco
DK is: Diemaco / Kaiser Aluminum
E is: Emco
EK is: EMCO/Kaiser
E MB is: EMCO/Mueller Brass
FA is: FNMI / Anchor Harvey
FK is: FNMI / Kaiser Aluminum
FM is: FN/Martin Marietta
FMB is: FNMI / Mueller Brass
LK is: LAR / Kaiser Aluminum [FN]
LM is: LAR / Martin Marietta
M "diamond" is: Mueller Industries
PA is: Capco? / Anchor Harvey [Elisco?]
PM is: Capco? / Martin Marietta [Elisco (Armalite) for the Philippine military]
Square (symbol) is: Brass Aluminum

Colt M4 - Cerro (“C” keyhole), Cardinal (“C“ bird‘s head), square, C + AF

I listed one with Trijicon Night sights in the classifieds section. It is under AR-15 Upper receiver parts. Only $75 shipped for a genuine Colt A3 removable carry handle with new Trijicon two dot green night sights.

Email me if interrested.

This! Just because its Colt doesnt mean its any better than any other quality forged carry handle from Stag, S&W, BCM, ect. ect. I wouldnt pay more than $40 or so myself.

I had an iron sight taken off from a brand new M16A4 that had a cardinal forge mark.
